  • Folklore and Tradition

20 different groups, 500 Gilles, 150 musicians and confetti all around: this folkloric event in Fleurus is sure to wow you. The procession even throws oranges to the crowd!

The cavalcade tradition dates back to Pagan times: a way to celebrate spring as the rebirth of nature.

History

In the 1880s, the city of Charleroi was already celebrating its 20th cavalcade its 50th carnival - the biggest hit in the region at the time! The small town of Fleurus decided to join in and organise its own event if only to revitalize local trade. The tradition still goes on...

Program

The event takes place every year on Easter Sunday, with the procession going through the city from 3 pm. Fireworks in the evening will make the carnival even more memorable.
