Maison de Magritte in Châtelet

Built by Magritte's father in 1911 th beautful bourgeois house is designed in an Art Nouveau style, very fashionable at the time, 

This opulent house was home to one of Belgian's most important surrealist painters. During the time he lived here Magritte learned to paint and exhibited for the first time.

The interior architecture is still in keeping with the time Magritte lived here, with the parquet floors, the columns with balustrades, and two very beautiful chimneys. The walls of the kitchen are entirely covered with pottery from Bouffioulx, which makes it exceptional and even more rare because the pottery no longer exists.
